The right timing makes a big difference to your trip. Here's a simple guide to the best months to visit Turkey and Malaysia, by weather, crowds and prices.
Turkey — spring and autumn are best
April–May: mild weather (20–30°C), ideal for exploring Istanbul and ancient sites, with parks and gardens in full bloom.
June–August: peak season on the coast (Antalya, Bodrum, Fethiye, Marmaris) — hot, crowded and pricier, great for beach lovers but less comfortable for city touring.
September–October: pleasant weather in Cappadocia and Istanbul with plenty of cultural events — one of the best times to balance weather and price.
November–March: cold, and many coastal hotels close, but a great window for skiing in the mountains between December and January.
Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur — tropical year-round
Kuala Lumpur is a tropical city where rain is possible year-round, though some periods are drier than others.
June–August: among the best months to avoid heavy rain, with relatively sunny weather. December–January is another good option, with lower humidity.
There are two monsoon seasons: the Northeast (October–January) and the Southwest (May–September), but KL's inland location and surrounding hills reduce their impact compared to the coast. Rain is usually a short afternoon shower rather than an all-day drizzle.
Our recommendation for the honeymoon package (Turkey & Malaysia together)
If you're planning a trip covering both destinations, April–May gives you ideal weather in Turkey, while Kuala Lumpur remains pleasant to visit year-round with a chance of light afternoon showers — a great balance between the two.
