From the pyramids to the Nile — Cairo is a journey through thousands of years of history, and one of the closest, richest destinations for Libyan travellers.

Best time to visit

October to April, when the weather is milder and away from Egypt's intense summer heat — also the best season for visiting the open-air ancient sites.

Top sights and experiences

  • The Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx — one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World
  • The Grand Egyptian Museum — the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilisation
  • Khan el-Khalili and an evening Nile cruise — for shopping and traditional atmosphere

Visa & entry for Libyan passport holders

Entering Egypt requires a visa for Libyan passport holders. It can be obtained through the Egyptian consulate, or at some land border crossings (such as Emsaad/Salloum); consular processing usually takes around 5 working days.
